MOLD GROWTH AND REMOVAL

It is without question that time of year when allergies from excessive moisture and the up and down variations in the weather bring about another foe, mold.  Mold growth threatens and is inevitable in a moisture-laden environment.  We have had extensive precipitation this year so far, and the future only tells us that we have more on the way.  Our foe likes to feed on moist, wet, damp, muggy services, especially those that are porous.  It can breathe and eat away.

Mold removal becomes necessary when this enemy has gotten out of hand.  We see more black mold this time of year than anything.  It can easily turn toxic and therefore, quite dangerous if allowed to sit and fester for long periods of time unattended.  We find this the case with attic mold.  The reason this happens all too often is that the homeowner hardly ever goes up there.  When they do, then the mold contamination process has already taken over large spaces and is spreading.  This is no cause to be completely alarmed or panic.  Just as staining can be removed from clothing, mold cleanup is a process that can get rid of mold in your home attic, not only on the surface, but those floating mold spores in the air as well.

The professional mold removal company will want to do a thorough inspection of the attic space and examine whether the contamination is surface only, or if it has proceeded to decay the material it is attached to.  This typically takes place on wood structures such as joists, beams, trusts and the like.  It is sometimes difficult to determine whether what you are looking at is just a spot, a discoloration as often happens with wood, or if it is in fact mold.

A good quality air test sample can determine the picture a lot better than the naked eye.  It might be a good idea to get a test done prior to the treatment of the mold in your home, and afterwards as well.  When it comes to health and safety you can never be to careful about the environment in your home.
Air testing sample are good because the findings are documented and recommendations can be given as to why the problem is there, what caused it, and how to properly administer mold remediation if necessary.

Once the process starts it is a good idea not to be in the home while the mold removal company does its job.  Mold growth is a natural thing.  It becomes unnatural when we allow it to have its way in our home going unchecked.  Periodically check the attic, crawl spaces, basements, closets, etc.  Anywhere that is not "out in the open" as it were.  Then you can head off a larger problem by early detection.

So, isn't it high time you put that newspaper down, turn off the TV, silence the music?  It only takes a few precious minutes to take a look and see if you have unnecessary mold growth in your home.  You just might be glad you did!
